Nery's Story
After many years of traveling across beautiful Mexico, discovering magical and unique places full of history, I realized that the best way to truly explore was on my own terms—at my own pace, with my own rules. The only way to reach those hidden gems, often missed by most tourists, was by having the freedom and confidence of a rental car.
However, like many travelers, I quickly ran into the common challenges of renting a car in Mexico. Having worked in international tourism for more than 20 years, I also saw how visitors were often misled by false advertising and hidden conditions. That’s when I decided to do things differently.
With just a couple of vehicles and a big dream, I started a small company called Xplorent. My goal was never just to “compete” with the big corporations—because while they had massive budgets and strong marketing, what they lacked was true quality service and genuine customer care. That’s exactly what I set out to create: a car rental experience that was safe, simple, fast, and built on trust.
Thanks to the satisfaction and word-of-mouth recommendations from our customers—who often become friends, and sometimes even family—our project grew stronger. Some of those friends, like Lesia and Chuck, even became partners who believed in this new way of doing things.
This is how Car N Go was born: with the mission of becoming the #1 car rental company in Mexico, and soon expanding worldwide, always staying true to our roots—the warmth and hospitality of Mexico.
It Started with One Family… and a Frustrated Rental
We are Chuck and Lesia, 2 Canadians who, like many travelers, were tired of the long lines, upselling, and confusion that came with renting cars abroad especially with kids in tow. The big surprise was our first rental in 2010. We booked online in Canada, bought extra insurance recommended and thought “We’re all set!”.
Arrived in Mexico with 2 kids, ton of luggage, went to the required counter and was told the insurance had to be paid on the spot or no rental. Of course we stated we had bought the insurance online and showed them. No go. To drive in Mexico, you are legally required to have a Mexican auto insurance policy with liability coverage, as US and Canadian policies are not recognized, a detail the rental company we used had not informed us. So we forked over the extra cash and no refund for the insurance we had originally bought online. Chuck and I have had every experience possible including receiving a different car than we had booked, sub standard cars and never a personal touch or help.
Resigned to this standard we took a chance and rented from a small local company Explorent on our next trip, met Nery the owner and received a completely different experience - one of personalized service, transparent pricing, real customer based focus and a determination to tell customers the truth about the insurance requirements in Mexico. So we partnered with Nery and Fernanda here in Mexico and our 2 families embarked on building that “something better” in car rental.We wanted a local, independent car rental company designed to feel more personal, more flexible, and more honest. Built by people who understand what it means to travel with children, luggage, car seats, questions—and dreams.
